Founder & Family Physician
A doctor who wants to understand the full picture
I’m Dr. Juan Carlos Venis, a family physician and founder of INcircle Health. I believe good primary care begins with listening, asking thoughtful questions, and understanding what matters to you—not just reviewing a list of diagnoses.
Board-certified in family medicine and obesity medicine · Credentialed HIV Specialist · Care in English and Spanish
In his words
Why I practice this way
I chose family medicine because I wanted to care for people over time and understand how their health connects with family, community, identity, work, and everyday life. My training in public health strengthened that perspective and taught me to look beyond a single diagnosis or office visit.
I created INcircle Health so I could practice with more time, continuity, and direct connection. The goal is not to make care complicated or exclusive. It is to create enough space to listen carefully, explain clearly, and help patients make decisions that fit their lives.
Expertise
Experience that supports the whole person
Family medicine
Comprehensive care across prevention, acute concerns, chronic conditions, mental health, and changing health needs over time.
Obesity medicine
Evidence-based treatment that recognizes obesity as a complex chronic disease rather than a failure of effort or character.
HIV, sexual health, and LGBTQ+ care
Experienced care for HIV treatment, PrEP, sexual health, and inclusive primary care that does not separate identity from the rest of a person's health.
Public health and physician leadership
Experience in medical education, community health, organized medicine, and health advocacy that informs a broader understanding of patients and healthcare systems.
What to expect
What you can expect from me
I want patients to feel comfortable bringing up the concern they almost did not mention. My role is to listen without judgment, explain the options clearly, and help build a plan that is medically sound and realistic for your life.
Curiosity before assumptions
Symptoms, goals, and health decisions make more sense when understood in context.
Clear explanations
Patients deserve to understand what we know, what remains uncertain, and what choices are available.
Shared decisions
Medical expertise matters, but so do the patient's priorities, preferences, and lived experience.
Support without judgment
Health change is rarely linear. Care should make room for setbacks, competing demands, and changing goals.

Connected to the community I serve
Dr. Venis lives and works in Indianapolis and provides care in both English and Spanish. His Mexican heritage and experience working with diverse communities have reinforced the importance of cultural humility, respectful communication, and understanding the circumstances surrounding a person’s health.
Outside the clinic, he enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling, staying active, and remaining involved in the Indianapolis community. He also understands personally that improving health is rarely a straight line, which helps him approach change with realism rather than judgment.
